ABOUT MICK AND BETH

Mick St. John and Beth Turner first crossed paths when she was a little girl. Mick is a Private Investigator, and was hired by Beth's mother when Beth went missing from her room late at night. Mick, a vampire, was able to trail Beth both by her scent, and by the scent of the woman responsible for taking her... a vampire by the name of Coraline.

Mick found Beth, being held hostage by Coraline. The entire ordeal was a plot by Coraline to bring her ex-husband, Mick, back to her. A promise of a family... of a child. Beth. Beth was to be turned into a vampire, and raised by Coraline and Mick. Coraline thought giving Mick his 'perfect little family' would bring him back.

It didn't work, and after subdueing Coraline, Mick rescued Beth and returned her home.

One would think that was the end of the story, but Beth's case lingered in Mick's mind, drove him to be a better person and vampire. He always stayed in the shadows, watched her grow up and tried to be there when she needed hin. A guardian angel of sorts. It stayed this way until Beth was an adult, a budding reporter, and she stumbled across him at a murder scene.

Sparks flew immediately. There was recognitionin her eyes, she knew his face. Mick played dumb, tried to hide his nature and his past with her, but he too was drawn in. Since that first meeting at the murder at Melrose, Beth and Mick began working side-by-side solving mysterious crimes around Los Angeles.

Over the course of the show, the two have formed a close bond, one which has more than noticeable romantic tension. Beth, at first unaware that Mick was the man who saved her, gravitated towards Mick due to the sense of protection and warmth his presence gave her. Even after discovering he was a vampire, she seemed almost fascinated by every aspect of him and his life and only became more enamoured with Mick.

Though it's harder to reads Mick's outward feelings for Beth, it is obvious that Mick holds a similar soft spot in his heart for her. He is very protective of her, and has said in monologue more than once that his thoughts constantly drift to her. Over the course of the episodes has opened up and give Beth one thing he has given no other women in a very long time... his trust, a sign that he places her in very high regard.

The directions this relationship could go are many, and the dynamics involved are intense. The romantic vibe between the two is there, but there are many walls preventing it from going forward; Beth and her current boyfriend, the fact that Mick does not see being with a mortal a good idea, Mick's hangs up over his ex-wife, and a looming fact that Mick is so much older than Beth and new her as a child. There is a protector/guardian relationship there as well, which recently has gone both ways as they mutually save eachothers lives.
